my booktastic reviews

i love reading, my favorite books are YA SI-FI and contemporary and I am working on becoming an author.

the lux series

Obsidian - Jennifer L. Armentrout

today i will be talking about the lux series. This was such an amazing series there are 5 books in this series and they are all just so amazing. the series is about a girl who moves to a boring old town and instantly has a crush on her next door neighbor Daemon. but once she gets to know him and his sister she finds out that they both are aliens. and for violence i expected there to be quite a lot but i found out that it doesn't. which i found very surprising considering that there are people after them. but Daemon dose not believe that violence is the answer. there are all of 1 fist fights in each book but thats it and its never EVER graphic. and i highly recommend this series to anyone.

ratings:

violence: • one fist fight in each but, never graphic.

language • hell is used 1 time in the whole series.

sex • some snogging but thats it.

allegiant

Allegiant - Veronica Roth

okay this review is going to be full of spoilers but I will give a non spoiler review first and then I will warn you before I give the HUGE spoiler. okay so wow this was a great final book. I love how veronica roth gave you all the answers that we have been asking for 2 whole 500 page books.so more is explained on tris's mother. and outside the gate. I was a little disappointed for when they got out of the factions and outside the gate it kind of dragged a little but for the whole over all story and/writing it was really good veronica draws everything together perfectly until the spoiler that I am now going to get to. oh but as for the violence there wasn't that much like there are some shootings and a few deaths put it is never graphic but I'll explain more about those deaths below which are the spoiler parts so don't read it if you haven't read/finished the book yet.

so tris dies I am literally crying while I say this but oh god tris dies. and so for the rest of the book that guy david is just uhhhhhhhhhhhh so stupid and grossly creepy. and that girl nita veronica just really does a great job on wanting for you to feel like you need to strangle her. and I actually really liked to see the dual perspectives but at times it was a little confusing but for the most part I really enjoyed it. the only reason I'm giving it 3 out of 5 stars is because tris dies. but the over all strory was just fantastic. and Uriah dies like we all know that he's just a side character but over all three books we really grow close to his funny, sweet, caring personality. my heart is still broken.

ratings:

violence •••• some major deaths nothing graphic but there are a lot of deaths.

sex •• some very very very passionate kissing he takes her shirt off but nothing beyond that point.

language •• "hell" and "damn" are used quite a bit in this one.

insurgent

Insurgent - Veronica Roth

i really enjoyed this book it was actually very good. it did slack a little on the first 100 pages but for the most part is was really good. tris was a little annoying in this one. and four and his father were always going at it and it got really annoying. but this was very well written. as for the violence there was a little more than in divergent. like some people are shot and most of everyone shot dies. and my daughter now is very mad at me for not letting her read it but she will get over it. but i can't wait for the 3rd and final book allegiant   so now to the ratings

ratings:

violence •••• there was a lot of shooting and most everyone dies.

sex •• some very passionate kissing but nothing beyond that.

language •• damn is used 1 time and hell is used 3 times

the darkest minds: never fade

Never Fade - Alexandra Bracken

Alexandra Bracken has once again out done herself. I loved this book so much. I was so excited that when my daughter was at school I told her that after school she could go to barnes and noble and grab 2 copies one for me and one for her because I couldn't wait to get my hands on the second instalment or the darkest minds trilogy. so this one to my surprise and as much violence as the first one. because usually as the series go along it gets even more violent. but not this one. I did like this one a little less but It did pick up. so yes now to the ratings.

violence •• one shot is fired hits no one. they are chased by armed men one is shot but is not graphic and barley hits him its really just a scratch.

sex • some light kissing

language •• hell is used 3 times one almost says f--k but never gets it all the way out like this: fu-

the darkest minds

The Darkest Minds - Alexandra Bracken

oh my this amazing book. so i'll get right to this. so my 13 year old daughter has been wanting to read this for the longest times and I was skeptical at first because of the title. so as the overly protective mom I am I read it first to make sure it was okay. and my-oh-my was this a great book. and as one parent to another let your child read this. the most violent this book got was someone getting injured in a car crash. and at one point someone gets a gun and uses it (accidently) and is fired but doesn't hit anyone.

ratings:

violence •• one car crash and one character is injured but lives and a gun is accidently shot but doesn't hit anyone

Divergent review

Divergent - Veronica Roth

today I will be talking about the amazing first book in the amazing Divergent trilogy. and first, I will admit there is a little violence but it is never described gruesomely. I love how tris stands up for what she believes in such a strong character. and the love interest was made so well. and I love that veronica roth did not make this teen relationship sexual. Like everything is about sex and who's sleeping with who.

violence ••• some fist fight but nothing graphic.

sex • just some kissing.

language • "hell" is used 4 times.
